A beautiful log home set in the west country of Alberta was the perfect backdrop to this family photo shoot. I really enjoyed getting to know this tight knit family that resides on such a peaceful acreage. As the afternoon was one of the ‘few’ sunny days we experienced in March in Central Alberta, we took advantage of the nice weather and scenic location to get some great images and even a few ‘loving moments’ between a brother and sister caught in time. What a terrific afternoon it was!

Their ‘true blue’ love for each other made a couple afternoon shoots with them awesome. What made the shoot even better is the fact that I have known both these special people since Grade One. Yes, grade one! Over the years of growing up together in a small town we all can think back to some wonderful and laughable memories and moments. A truly fantastic couple that deserves all the worlds happiness. Congrats Jamie & Kim!

A couple more of my favorites from Jamie & Kim, yes of course I couldn’t forget Brick & Rutzy! I honestly love photographing Dogs. They are such understanding and loyal creatures, and the jumping shot…. well I love jumping shots! They just bring out so much personality, particularly in these two!

After a year of photographing and working with some amazing clients from across the province of Alberta. I am so grateful for the amazing  photo shoots I have experienced and the timeless images that I am so proud of. From photographing weddings across Central Alberta to photographing my first destination wedding in Mexico, the year has been full of amazing people who were willing to go anywhere and try any pose I suggested for the perfect photograph.

Honestly, how many people  love their job as much as I do? I consider myself very fortunate to be able to make a living doing what I love. I am so honored to be able to capture moments that live for a life time through my images; to tell my client’s stories they way they want them told.

Especially when the destination is Mexico and the time of year is the end of November. Palm trees and fruity drinks replace snow, ice and hot chocolate. Hola Mexico was what I was thinking. A destination in the Mayan Riveria was very exciting for this wedding photojournalist!

Cassandra and Jon from Grande Prairie invited me to be their ‘Official Destination Wedding Photographer’ in March not knowing where their destination wedding would take place exactly I gladly excepted the invitation. A wedding adventure filled with friends, love and lots of fiesta’s!

The wedding morning started very low key. The bride and her brides maids sipped champagne in her ocean front room while her stylist ensured every hair was in perfect place for her special day.  A warm ocean breeze floated through the room as the girls relaxed and enjoyed the morning. In the afternoon the ceremony took place in after a light shower settled the sand on the beach. They both said “I Do”  with the crystal clear tourquioise waters of the Carribean sea behind them and their closest friends and family by their sides. It truly was a fairly tale wedding for these two amazing people.  I was so honored to take part in their amazing day and capture those images for them forever.  Below are a few teasers of Cassandra and Jon’s beautiful wedding. The weather was unusually warm for the majority of the month, I guess it was preparing us for this blast of winter we recently received. It couldn’t be better timing though for a Central Alberta photojournalist who is heading out on her first destination wedding. On Friday November 19, I leave the frigid cold of Alberta and head south to Tulum in the Mayan Riveria of Mexico. A million thoughts run through my head… Make sure you bring an extra camera body, how many compact flash cards will you need?, do I really need my laptop?, how many lenses? The list goes on and on. I have to admit although I am excited to be heading away to a tropical paradise for work it is quite nerve racking thinking of the factors out of my control. Different than a regular wedding probably not so much however after three years of Alberta and B.C Wedding Photography one develops routines, I am not so sure the same routines will work in Mexico so it is a little bit of an adventure. The adventure to photograph a Wedding in a Mexican 5 Star Resort, how awesome is that! I will continue to pack my bags, check my list and plan for the shoot,  knowing this next week will be a great experience for me, one filled with some amazing images for the bride and groom! See you in a week Alberta, if you could plan a chinook when we come home…. that would be awesome.
